Server panel
Users and permissions
Give friends or staff access with exactly the rights they need.
Share a server with friends, moderators or a developer without giving out your password. Each person signs in with their own account and gets exactly the rights you choose.
#Invite someone
- Open the Users tab and click Add user.
- Enter the email of their Rackvane account. They need an account with that email; they can create one for free.
- Tick the permissions they should have and save.
The server appears in their dashboard right away, marked Shared.
#Permissions
Permissions come in groups, and nobody can give out more than they have themselves.
| Group | Examples |
|---|---|
| Console and power | See the console and send commands; start, stop, restart |
| Files | Browse, open and download, create and upload, edit, delete, archive, SFTP |
| Network | View the address, add or remove extra ports |
| Backups | Create, download, restore, delete |
| Databases | View, create, see passwords, delete |
| Schedules | View, create, edit, delete |
| Settings and users | Startup settings, reinstall, manage other users, view activity |
A sensible moderator setup is Console, Start, Restart and Browse files. A developer usually needs the Files group and SFTP.
#Changing or removing access
Edit a user to change their permissions; changes apply immediately, and an open console closes if they lose access to it. Remove takes the server away from them at once.
Only the owner can pay for, change the plan of, or delete the server. If a server is shared with you, you can Leave it from the same tab.
